Are planned runtimes on lines of route (common SRT & Dwell patterns) achievable?

Category: Planning
Capabilities: Turnarounds/Splits/Merges Calculation

As a Timetable Planner, I want to know whether unachievable or unresilient section and dwell times are causing delays to the network so that I can adjust the timetable.

Using granular train movement data, we can generate insight into the achievable and recommended section and dwell times for services. JNCTION is currently providing this capability to Network Rail Anglia Route as part of our Train Planning Rules Validation project.

Difficulty: Easy

The method for accurately determining what a SRT or dwell time should be to minimise delays to services has already been created and agreed with timetable planners.

Data: Mostly Available

SMART data is available for most key areas of the network. Where it does not exist we can use GPS data to accurately determine advised SRTs and dwell times.

Scalability: Medium

The methodology could be replicated across the network however manual work is required to process the TPRs.

Maturity: High

JNCTION has developed a scalable method that has been agreed with numerous key stakeholders.
